Semi-automatic .30 caliber carbine with a 15 bullets magazine. The M1A1 model has a foldable steel handle, specifically developed for paratroopers. It was manufactured by Inland Division at approximately 140 000 copies. The weapon weighs roughly 5.8lbs and is transported in a scabbard strapped to the body during the parachute jump.
